How to grow Your Instagram Followers, Hashtags, IG Stories

Ahh Instagram. With over 1 billion monthly active users, it’s definitely a well-loved social media outlet (for comparison, the population of the US is over 325 million…!). Having a larger Instagram following can mean more sales for your business, more views on your blog, and a stronger community for your brand. But how in the world do some people have thousands of Instagram followers? (Psst, this incredible tool helped me bring my Instagram to the next level.) Today, I’ve got 11 actionable tips to help you grow your Instagram followers.

1. Like photos in your niche.

I attended an online conference where Susan Petersen (CEO of Freshly Picked) talked about how she grew her Instagram to have almost 400,000 followers. (Today she has over 800,000!) She said that in the early days, she would spend hours liking other people’s photos each night. Her suggestion? Go through and like 5-10 photos on someone’s account. It would also help to leave a genuine comment and give them a follow. This helps to get your name out there and allows other users to discover you.  I’d also suggest doing this primarily to users in your niche. How do ya find users in your niche? Check hashtags, or view the followers of your favorite Instagrammers. Overall, be authentic and not spammy — ain’t nobody got time fo’ spam.

2. Create a theme for your photos.

Cool, so if you followed #1, people will naturally start to notice your username and may check out your account…give them something to fall in love with! I’ve found that it really helps to create a theme for your Instagram. Write down a few words that you want people to associate with your account. For mine, I hope people glean that it’s bright, artistic, and full of love. Which words would you use for your account? Once you’ve settled on a theme, try your hardest to stick to it! A few accounts that are killin’ it? Studio DIY, Wonderforest, and Jessica Safko!

3. Socialize.

It ain’t called social media for nothin’! Respond to the comments you receive and leave comments of your own on others’ work. Rather than something stale like, “cute dress,” try to leave genuine comments and questions that encourage them to post more photos.

4. Create a hashtag and encourage others to use it, too.

This is a great way to build community and gain new content for your account. First of all, create a unique hashtag (make sure it’s not already being used!) and ask others to use it. It works best if the hashtag has a specific purpose. For example, A Beautiful Mess encourages followers to use #ABMLifeIsColorful on all of their colorful, happy photos. Once people start using your hashtag (and YOU use it, too!), then you can repost images from your followers (giving them proper credit, of course!). Not only does this build community by showing your followers that you appreciate their photos, but it also gives you content for your own account.

5. Run a contest.

If you have something you’d like to give away, try running a contest. Some ideas? Have users repost a specific image and tag you in the caption. Ask them to follow you. Or invite them to use your hashtag on their own images. You could even try a loop giveaway, if you want to collaborate with other Instagrammers.

6. Use Instagram Stories!

Believe it or not, Instagram Stories are rapidly growing in popularity, to over 400 million daily users. Many users even report they love watching Stories more than the endless “scroll” of their feed 😉 Get creative with your Stories. Take your followers behind the scenes and show them the most interesting parts of your day. Ask questions. Use polls, quirky GIFs, and music. Play with filters and Boomerangs. This is an amazing way to start getting comfortable on video and connect with your followers in an even deeper way.

7. Encourage followers to take action.

As simple as it may sound, people are more likely to do something if you ask them to do it. Sharing a quote? Ask them to “like” your photo if they agree with it! Sharing something funny or relatable? Ask your followers to tag a friend! Ask open-ended questions! If you put the idea out there, it will encourage your followers to act accordingly.

8. Geotag your photos.

Posting a photo of that cool restaurant or city you recently visited? Geotag it! That way, other people who used the same geotag can see your photo and potentially follow you since you now have so much in common (like that french toast you both had last weekend). 😉 In case you’re confused, geotagging your photos means you tag it with a location.

9. Figure out what your audience likes.

Do a little research, yo. Go back through your photos and see which ones got the most likes and comments — and of course, the least. What clicks with your audience and why? How can you incorporate more photos like that into your feed?

Analytics are key here, too, you can use Tailwind to help analyze results, track conversions, and discover new content.

10. Link your Instagram account to your other networks.

If you have a blog, Twitter, or Facebook, then you might assume your people are already following you on every platform. Hint: they probably aren’t! Share a quick tweet or Facebook post encouraging them to follow you on Instagram…it will reel in more followers than you think. This will help your followers on other networks discover your Instagram account — and proceed to follow you there, too!

11. Approach popular users to collaborate.

Think outside the box! Ask another Instagrammer in your niche if you can “take over their account” for the day as a guest contributor. Instagram Story takeovers are a blast and can dramatically grow your following fast. Or start an Instagram challenge with daily prompts. Ultimately, think of fun, creative ways to collaborate with other users.

I’m a total IG rookie, but one tip I would add to this list is to use a service like Iconosquare. For me, seeing some basic insta analytics really helps me understand what is working for my account and what’s not, and having a service go through your pics looking for engagement stats is waaaaay faster than going through it manually. Also Iconosquare is free, hooray!

I was just thinking yesterday about how I should try to create a hashtag both for my community, and because in my niche, there aren’t really good hashtags. I think it’s a sign from the universe. 🙂

I like these suggestions overall! Always loved the theme idea but I never got as specific as to pick a few words. That will help! The only one that I find kind of cringeworthy is the asking for follows : I always found that to be a little desperate. Is there a way you found to not sound like a spammy “follow4follow” type?

  13. Mel @ The Nectar Collective

    March 3rd, 2015 at 10:27 am

Hey Nathalie! Maybe you’re talking about #6? I wouldn’t recommend being spammy and asking random people to follow you either — what I suggested is sending a tweet or an update on Facebook with something like, “Are you following me on Instagram? I share photos about _______, ________, and ________!” Personally, I think your followers on one platform will want to follow you on other platforms as well, so this is just a way to spread the word to the people who already enjoy your work.

This was really helpful. I’m struggling with switching from using Instragram just for fun to now, using it for branding of my blog. Sometimes you just want to share a picture right away and not wait to edit, frame it, and make sure the lightening is just right, haha. But like #2 said, creating a theme is really important! Slowly but surely, I’ll find a nice middle ground.

Great tips! I’ve often thought about trying to go for the crisp, clean white theme that I love to see in other feeds, but whenever I think about it, that’s just not me. I love deeper tones and a wood backdrop too much. 🙂 But I am working on incorporating more dog and book-related photos, with some day-to-day life photos thrown in. Dogs and books tend to get the most likes on my account.

I enjoyed scrolling through the #TNChustler feed tonight!

Great tips! Liking works the best for me, even an hour a day gets a lot followers and engagement. I’m not sure about sticking to the same theme though, if I see someone posting similar photos all the time I get bored eventually and unfollow them… Being consistent is quite important, but learning something new and growing all the time is even more valuable 🙂

Hi there! Great question. I think it’s important to look at your audience. If your audience digs your high fashion photos, they would probably also appreciate some well-curated photos of food or travel. I think this account might provide some inspiration for you! https://instagram.com/justinliv/ He does a nice job of incorporating men’s fashion photos with his travels and shots of food. The theme the binds them all together? It’s geared toward sharing his lifestyle in a chic, well-photographed way. Hope that helps! 🙂 You have a great account!

  47. TommyThePretty

I’ve got a proved method to attract new followers. You need to go some place where lots of posts are made, take a picture and then follow everybody who made the same thing in the same location. Most of people feel engaged in such situation, so many would follow you back. To increase the number you should, of course, also like and comment. After that you’ll have to unfollow those who are not interested in your account, and here you may face some difficulties if you’ve added to many people. Sometimes I have to deal with thousands, so I found a service https://fast-unfollow.com allowing to unfollow up to 5000 users per day. If it’s just a personal account and you only manage dozens or hundreds – it’s still useful because of the welcome gift of 1000 free unsubscriptions. If your instagram is for businesses, not for pleasure, its utility rises significantly.

I love the giveaway tip, except the last time I did this with a blog there were a few unfollows, which is typical I guess but it was a mass exodus rather than a few here or there. What are some tips to make them stay? You know besides improving quality of photo’s and the content period. Those are kind of obvious <- include in your next post please!

  51. Mel @ The Nectar Collective

    June 2nd, 2015 at 12:16 pm

Hi Sara! Were the unfollows before or after the giveaway? It’s pretty typical for you to lose a bunch of followers AFTER a giveaway because they no longer need to be following if they didn’t win. But if you joined a giveaway and you lost more followers then you gained, then there could be a problem somewhere. Is that what happened?

  52. Radium Girl

    June 3rd, 2015 at 12:04 pm

It was me hosting the giveaway but it was like there was no change in before from after. I think I actually lost more people and a few I knew personally who had unfollowed me. Seemed strange.

    June 2nd, 2015 at 5:59 pm

As a lifestyle blogger, I struggle to find a theme for my Instagram, however, ever since I decided to be more tactical with my Instagram and post high quality, well lit, well edited photos, I’ve seen an increase in likes and engagement. I dont know how people do these perfectly curated white washed instagram accounts! I like to share life with my followers, but instead of posting a grainy pic of my cat, I post a well lit, DSLR shot photo of him looking dapper. Makes a huge difference. Also, I post at least once a day and try for 2-3 times a day as well as spacing selfies out to every 2-3 days. I put more thought into what I post onto Instagram now, but there’s no specific theme, I like bold colours is about as niche as I can get haha.

  54. Mel @ The Nectar Collective

I do agree with all of them, but specially with the themed one. It becomes catchy. For example, if we forget the username of the person, we usually think like ‘oh, it’s the boy that has B&W photos, or that girl that only uses shades of blue’, etc, and I think that’s very important if you want to have your Instagram getting noticed :b

    August 6th, 2015 at 11:10 am

Great tips, i have been using some of those to grow my account organically but i’m wondering if using applications or buying some from websites like http://instagramfollowers.website/ is a sound strategy.. i dunno, for now i will stay away from that and focus on posting amazing content and improving my relationship with my followers.

  79. Mel @ The Nectar Collective

    August 6th, 2015 at 2:35 pm

Hi Laura! Thanks for asking this question — it’s an important one. As tough as growing your followers can be at first, I would highly encourage you to stay away from buying your followers. The main reason being — what would you get out of purchasing followers other than having more followers? When you grow your followers organically, you also grow your community, engagement, and the amount of people who will check out your website and/or purchase your products. When you buy followers, you don’t get any of those benefits. Stick to growing organically. It takes time, but is well worth it. 🙂

  80. Vincent Perro

    October 8th, 2015 at 12:14 am

I can only agree, followers that you buy won’t bring up anything but numbers. And your CTR will lower as those followers would be either spamy or inactive, if not ghost. Actually i think that buying UNfollows can be even better, e.g. if you use follow4follow hashtag to connect with a group of people found with a statistic app, like iconosqure.com, and then use a service like fast-unfollow.com to filter those who wasn’t engaged into interaction. So yeah, to make your followers feel as a part of a consolidated community is the most important thing.

Hi Stanley, one easy way for you to increase your followers and likes rapidly. Just use the awesome instagram VIP access of
bcfollowers com here you can send easily within several seconds likes, followers, video views and also own written comments to each profile or post on instagram.

And the main thing here is you will get only REAL followers, no fakes or bots. This goes NOT against instagram`s terms or conditions and it is definetly permissible

    it is working perfectly!

    Hello,

An excellent post. I agree with you that creating a great theme for Instagram will attract people. As it has been discussed in this article, respond to the comments you receive and comment on others work. Genuine comments can encourage people to post more.

Instagram is one of the powerful tools for social media marketing. Always use an image that is visually appealing. Make your images fascinating. Use hashtags and try to engage with your target audiences.

Your followers who are following you on Facebook and Twitter might also follow you on Instagram. You can also include a call to action to generate a response from target audiences. Use Your company’s logo on Instagram.

Try to consider if your logo requires any redesign before putting it on Instagram. Check out this link: https://www.infographicdesignteam.com/blog/13-marketing-tips-grow-brand-instagram/

Love your stuff Melyssa! My question for you on this is what are your thoughts on the ones who automate their accounts to gain followers by following to unfollow? I don’t do this because I don’t like when they do it to me, but have you noticed how many accounts are doing this nowadays. It makes you wonder who actually worked to get their followers or who is just automating.

  153. Melyssa Griffin

    September 19th, 2016 at 10:44 am

    Greetings!!!

I have already a “decent” number of followers (1.7K) but less than 1%
(Maybe a full 1% I don’t know, I’m bad at math) like my posts. What is
curious is that every time I make new posts I get more followers but
those followers never actually like my content. It doesn’t make sense
to me, because for me to follow someone I have to like SEVERAL pics
first before make the commitment of following. So, having a lot of
followers that have NEVER liked my posts baffles me. What can I do?

did you use any of the automation tools or just kept liking and following manually all the time?

Getting likes quickly is not possible unless you are a public figure or a celebrity. If one of your friends has got likes on his Instagram picture too quickly then he/she is using an app which hacks the mechanism. One of such app is “Get Likes on Instagram” where you have to simply like other users pictures to earn coins and use those coins to generate likes on your picture. This is the only way a user can gain any number of likes in very less time. https://itunes.apple.com/app/id897894291

These are really great tips that I’ll be sure to incorporate. I agree, it’s a great reminder to ask followers on our other platforms to follow our Instagram. Naturally I’d think they’d follow my Instagram, but it’s easy to get lost in the mix of other Instagram users.

Hi, I found your blog whilst searching for how to get organic IG followers. I read your article and thought, ok it’s all good advice!

But (there’s always a but!)…I’ve found that I hardly get any organic followers. I’d say less than 5% are organic…they are all accounts which I’ve followed and in turn, they have followed back.

And if they are organic, I suspect a high amount are the dreaded automated accounts!

Any idea on why this might be and how to get round it?

great tips Melyssa! I use Crowdfire for Twitter but with the new Instagram update, Crowdfire doesn’t work as well for Instagram anymore. I don’t want to #follow4follow but am wary of following random people who follow my blog because there isn’t an easy way to see if they unfollow me a few days later (just to increase their numbers). I think I have a decent theme now – what do you think insta @piratude_nation

We have grown one of our Instagram accounts 100% organically to 53k followers https://instagram.com/vanila.design/ and that is part of our company https://vanila.io .

We started at the mid of summer 2016, and did steady and slowly.

    How we did it ?

    – Follow > Unfollow > Crowdfire to see who unfollow you. (CrowdFire doesnt support Instagram features anymore)

    – Have your own hastag

    – Use some apps to easy repost others posts.

    Repeat!

There are seriously hundreds upon thousands of ways and approaches to grow Instagram account and making money from it. What you need to do is find something you can do and then find what works for generating traffic (and sales) for that “something” and scale it up. When you have the right mentor, work attitude, and good Instagram earning method like Instagram Pocket Rocket, that’s very easy. I make every month over $2000 using that method.

Thanks for the great guide Melyssa- this kind of content is never useless unless its outdated, as it’s important to always stay ahead of the times (and competition) on Instagram. The methods seem to be those which will never get rusty or old, and these are definitely great tools which can be added to an account to be used daily for organic growth.

I’d also like to suggest my own website, which also offers guides on growing Instagram followers, as well as getting more likes and improving accounts. The section which gives its free, high quality methods is http://universitygram.org/follow is a must read after your content, and I wanted to post it here so that your readers can have even more outlets to learn everything about Instagram from.

over 2 years later and the guide is still valuable- that’s amazing. Thanks again for the guide.

Growing a solid Instagram following that is engaged and loyal used to be hard. It’s not now. I use http://www.paidtogrow.com
It’s a totally automated, hands off system that organically grows my followers, engages with my followers and collects me new leads/sales when I want them to. The best part is, there is an affiliate program that pays out a huge % of every referral I send to use the same tool. I just recently started with them and have already been able to make enough to cover my monthly mortgage. I’m just going to scale and grow from here.

Just please, don’t go liking a bunch of my photos and then following me, only to unfollow me should i return the favor. i realize this is an old instagram tactic for getting followers, but i really cannot STAND when people do that (it’s like saying “well now that you’ve followed me, lemme just say i could care less what’s in YOUR feed”). i immediately unfollow people who do this by using the Unfollowers app to see who has unfollowed me. If it’s someone i just followed too, they totally get the ax.

Am Toopel. i just want to share my experience with everyone. I have being hearing about this blank ATM card for a while and i never really paid any interest to it because of my doubts. Until one day i discovered a hacking guy called Donard. he is really good at what he is doing. Back to the point, I inquired about The Blank ATM Card. If it works or even Exist. They told me Yes and that its a card programmed for random money withdraws without being noticed and can also be used for free online purchases of any kind. This was shocking and i still had my doubts. Then i gave it a try and asked for the card and agreed to their terms and conditions. Hoping and praying it was not a scam. 3 days later i received my card and tried with the closest ATM machine close to me, It worked like magic. I was able to withdraw up to $3000 daily. This was unbelievable and the happiest day of my life. So far i have being able to withdraw up to $28000 without any stress of being caught. I don’t know why i am posting this here, i just felt this might help those of us in need of financial stability. blank ATM has really change my life. If you want to contact them, Here is the email address donardmorrisworld27@gmail.com And I believe they will also Change your Life. email: donardmorrisworld27@gmail.com

    Hey,

I think you’ve made a good blogpost over the things which are a must when trying to make a big Instagram profile. Once I had my account made, I tried to use the same techniques. I was posting aesthetic things, liking other posts, commenting and following in order to be followed again. But I must admit that it was not useful as I previously planned. Sometimes it is harder than it looks like because you need to post in a certain time, make the posts as people would like to see them and spent too much time on liking posts which you don’t even like at all. After a while, I found out about this site https://www.socialmediadaily.com/instagram. They are offering cool deals over followers and likes packages which in a fact are cheaper than you think. Once I did the purchase, people started following and liking me without further improvements and effort, because once you are instagram famous your posts pop up almost everywhere.

I hope that you will consider my experience helpful.

Thank you Karen, and I totally hear that. Organic growth can be a slow process, but it’s so worth it to have followers who love what you do and will engage in your content.

What are your thoughts on using a bot like gramgress.com, Instagress, MassPlanner or any of the others? I have heard truly mixed things so it’s tough to know :/

Appreciate any insight you can share. Thanks!

  256. Melyssa Griffin

    October 24th, 2017 at 12:42 pm

Hi Christy, I don’t advocate using bots to grow your account, since it’s not authentic and can potentially put your account at risk, since these tools are 3rd party softwares not always approved for use by Instagram. Some have even been shut down in the past. I suggest posting quality content, engaging with those in your target audience, and growing your account organically, when possible 🙂

Hello! Thanks a lot for these tips!
I remember reading them a few time ago and even by following some of the tips,I now have over 3500 followers ????
If anyone wants to connect, here’s my instagram! ???? https://www.instagram.com/maddyteaches/

One question I had was – How many posts ideally I should upload? Around 3-5?
    Thanks again! ????

  259. Melyssa Griffin

    October 29th, 2017 at 2:02 pm

That’s amazing growth, Maddy, thank you for sharing! 🙂 Do you mean the frequency of how often you should post to Instagram? I don’t practice what I’m preaching here, but yes, I do think ideally 1x per day is ideal, but if that is not possible, 3-5x per week is a good baseline.

  260. Maddy Teaches

    October 31st, 2017 at 10:22 am

Thank you for your answer! I’ve heard from other places that frequency also matters – 3 to 4 posts a day gets a lot of engagement and increases the possibility of the post reaching to more people. That’s why I asked. Thanks 🙂

  261. Melyssa Griffin

    November 3rd, 2017 at 10:19 am

I think it really depends. Instagram’s algorithm will focus on showing your content to people who engage/interact with your photos the most. 3-4 posts per day is definitely a lot, and I’ve seen accounts with larger followings do this (like The Everygirl and Glitter Guide).

Hello .. really its a great blog i like it. I have also a Instagram-account .. and i know how frustrating it can be if it does not go ahead. I tryed different ways to got more attention from other users. But its really hard if you have only 30 Followers 😉 .. so I decided to buy Instagram Followers and buy Instagram Likes
I know it does not sound good, but it helps me really ..I get more attention from other Users because the account was more lively. It was for me the best decision, and you are right.. hashtags are very important i use only hashtags with max 800 k its perfect for me
I use also the services from https://buycheapestfollowers.com/en You can give yourself with the Vip-Service on buycheapestfollowers is it possible to load unlimited Likes and Followers, . you are able to control from the panel, how many you want to receive, in REAL TIME. It is also possible to receive really small quantities,
starting from only 25 Likes,Followers or Video Views and/or 5 own written comments.
i started with the Autofollower-Service , which helps to get a certain amount of followers every day. .
But now i dont need it anymore .. have enough attention 😉
is only one possibility to get faster, more success

I’ve changed my niche on my IG account. I’m not sure if that’s why I’ve been slowly losing my followers. But I’ve heard this happening across the board. Many of my fellow blogger friends are losing IG followers on a daily. So instead of growing the number is going down. I was at 13,738 four months ago I’m down to 13,242. The numbers keep falling. I feel like eventually I’ll be down to zero. I’ve done all that you’ve suggested above. Not sure what to do. It’s frustrating..and I want to just give up. I just don’t understand how I could be losing so many so fast. I know you said it’s not good to purchase followers. But isn’t that the point of hosting a giveaway? If you host a giveaway on a blog or SM you are paying for people to follow you. It’s really the same thing.

  265. Melyssa Griffin

    November 3rd, 2017 at 10:17 am

Hi Anne 🙂 Hosting a giveaway is definitely one way to attract followers, but it’s a bit more organic than paying a bot to buy followers/likes. My biggest tip, as hard as it is, is to not pay as much attention to your follower number. Pay closer attention to your engagement. Are you getting comments? What posts are your followers most excited about? And utilize Instagram Stories. Anytime I use Instagram Stories, I seem to get more followers and interaction on my profile 🙂

Very good article! Thank you:) One of my favorite strategies with the new Instagram algorithm is to not just like but also leave relevant and engaging comments on posts in niche hashtags! This starts many conversations, builds relationships and helps to grow as well! Thought I would share what I found to work.

How do you feel about the follow/unfollow method?

  297. Melyssa Griffin

    February 6th, 2018 at 6:08 pm

Hi MiMi! 🙂 I’m personally not a fan of using this method, and don’t recommend it. Many people utilize software/apps and can tell when others use this tactic. It’s generally frowned upon, though I know there are many people out there that do this.

Why not try to buy Instagram followers? Buying Instagram followers invites people to check you out to know the reason why you are followed by that significant number of people. In which case, they will go to your website to learn more about the products or services you are selling, which will then boost your website traffic immensely. Click this to know more, https://goo.gl/yMPjFK. By the way, nice article. Keep posting.

Instagram is a great place for making money, but in order for you to start really making money, you need a following.
Not just any following, but organic following. Those are people that you engage with on a regular basis, people who like and comment on your posts.
There’s a program that can help you reach those kind of people, it can help you start or expand your business.
It will teach you the strategies that influencers use to grow their accounts and make money with Instagram. I’ll send yo the link, if you are interested.

i am 17 and into fitness my Instagram Handel is @bilisansfitworld i am gaining followers then loosing them but i still post quality photos and post often whats could be the problem ?

  301. Melyssa Griffin

    February 15th, 2018 at 2:18 pm

Hi Bilisan, Unfortunately this is a common tactic some people will use to try to grow their following. They will mass follow a bunch of accounts and then unfollow them, but they hope that some of those people they follow will follow them back. I know it sounds hard, but try not to pay attention to anyone who unfollows you. Focus on the awesome tribe you DO have, and try to find new people in your niche (fitness) that you can comment and engage with. 🙂

I believe that in order to have more followers, one must have a really beautiful and creative instagram. It’s necessary to be an active user, post photos every day and communicate with subscribers, you also need to respond to their posts. I know that many use such services as https://socialbloom.co/ , in order to find more real subscribers, in order to grow Instagram account. I believe that it really takes a lot of time and it’s probably easier to turn to professionals than to comprehend this science itself – advertising an account in an instagram.

    February 26th, 2018 at 2:04 pm

Thank you so much for this amazing article! I have been definitely doing these things in the last year on my IG account, but I feel that in the last time with all the changes, I just loose followers and gain new ones every day, but I am absolutely not growing and I am just stuck at the same number of followers. The account is also a business profile for my fashion brand: https://www.instagram.com/teyxo_urbanfashion/ Do you think it is better to switch to a personal profile? Thank you! Have an amazing day!

  307. Melyssa Griffin

    February 27th, 2018 at 8:58 am

Hi Lara! Great question 🙂 I actually recommend keeping the Business Profile, as you get access to invaluable free analytics. Don’t focus on those that play the follow/unfollow game, and stay appreciative and connected with all of the followers you have now that are actively engaging. Spend a lot of time zeroing in on hashtags and geo-tags within your niche and leave meaningful comments on several new profiles a day.

  308. Lara Roxana Popa

    February 27th, 2018 at 9:23 am

Thank you so much, dear Melyssa! That’s great advice and I think we all suffer from this follow/unfollow game and we should not pay attention to it! In the end, this game will probably not last and valuable, genuine and engaged profiles will win! Thanks for the thumbs up and encouragement! Keep up the good job!

  309. Kristel Sanguir

    February 26th, 2018 at 4:44 pm

If you want genuine and long lasting followers, DO NOT BUY THEM! There are easy ways to grow your followers without buying. One of the most effective strategy is by using hashtags all the time. You can try using Hashatory, a hashtag suggesting tool to help reach out with your taget market. What I love the most is how I get organic results by doing this method, rather than being a constant nuisance by providing boring and unrelevant content for my followers.

  310. Melyssa Griffin

    February 27th, 2018 at 8:57 am

Thank you for sharing your perspective, Kristel! I couldn’t agree more, and choose to grow my following organically on all social platforms. Buying followers can hurt your engagement.

  311. Fahd Abbasy

    March 4th, 2018 at 6:44 am

    I have a question.
What is the problem with buying followers? . And why do brands do it?

  312. Melyssa Griffin

    March 6th, 2018 at 10:24 am

Hi, Fahd! 🙂 When you buy followers, the ‘fake’ accounts will never engage with your profile, so this can bring down your engagement rate and make your account less appealing to potential collaborators. Brands do it sometimes to inflate their following so it seems like they are bigger than they actually are. I recommend not paying attention to the numbers, as difficult as it may seem. Organic growth takes longer, but it’s so worth it to cultivate a tribe of real humans who love what you do. 🙂

  313. Fahd Abbasy

    March 6th, 2018 at 11:01 am

    Hi Melissa
Thank you for this useful piece of information.
In your experience what is the most effective out of the above to get organic likes if u can rate the top most onr. Which is cost effective too.
