The Easy Way to Set Up "Rich Pins" on Pinterest

Growing your organic traffic with Pinterest is easier than you think

Rich pins refer to Pinterest pins that have your website name and icon displayed underneath the pin image, easily directing users to the pin’s source (you!). In case you’re confused, you can check out recent pins from my site here. You’ll notice that they are all from my website.

If you’re on WordPress, setting up rich pins is incredibly easy and very beneficial for growing your Pinterest following. Since activating rich pins on my Pinterest account, the number of people who viewed my profile and pins has nearly doubled. I’ve also noticed that my pins are starting to gain more traction, likes, and re-pins overall. Tons of readers and customers find new sites to explore and products to buy on Pinterest, so standing out from the crowd will help your blog or biz get noticed.

Did I mention this tutorial only takes 5 minutes tops? It’s easy peasy! Follow these simple steps to learn how to set up rich pins on Pinterest for your blog or business. Woooooo!

Psst: Want to rapidly grow your Pinterest following in order to grow your blog and business? Scroll down to learn about Pinfinite Growth. Bottom line? You need this.

Step One: Install the “Yoast” SEO plugin

In order to set up rich pins, Pinterest requires you to add certain meta tags to your site. Luckily, the Yoast plugin adds these for you! No confusing tech work here, folks! In case you’re unfamiliar with Yoast, it’s a search engine optimization (SEO) plugin, which can boost your blog in search engine rankings, when used properly. Whether you set up rich pins or not, I highly recommend installing and using Yoast. It’s a great tool! You can read more of my thoughts about it here.

Anyways, for this tutorial, you’ll need to install and activate Yoast. After Yoast is activated, go to the Yoast’s “Features” tab. Make sure the “Advanced settings pages” is “Enabled” and that will enable the metadata. Then we’re on to the next step!

Step Two: Visit the “Rich Pin Validator”

Go to Pinterest’s Rich Pin Validator, and plug in a link to any blog post on your site (it CANNOT be the link to your homepage). It doesn’t matter which blog post and you only need to do one. Click “validate.”

Step Three: Apply!

After validating, you should see a message that says “your pin’s been validated!” Then, click “apply now.” A pop up will come up with your website’s domain and “HTML tags” selected. Click “apply now” once again. Congrats, you’re done! That was easy, eh?

Now, you’ll just need to wait for a few days while Pinterest approves your application. Once it’s approved, your pins will all display your website name and icon. Hint: the icon displayed is your “favicon,” or the little icon that shows up next to your site name in your browser bar.

Easy, right?

  52. Aimee Guzman says:

Can I do this for my site even if I don’t have a blog section on it?

  53. Dorien Morin-van Dam says:

OMG. I just read this, followed your instructions and got a reply instantly from PInterest! I now have Rich Pins. You rock in a big way. What a great tutorial. (I already had Yoast SEO plugin so it made it super easy!) Thank you so very much. Will repin and share your article.

  54. Amanda says:

    I too got approved instantly!!

But I do have a question that I’m hoping you can provide some assistance with? I already have the Yoast plug-in installed on my blog. As per your instructions, I can see that there is a “add open graph meta data” check-box under the Facebook tab (which is checked!), but under the Pinterest tab, I see a link to verify your site with Pinterest, and then a blank box where I’m supposed to paste said verification. The thing is, I verified my site forever ago, and I have no idea what my verification code is anymore. Does this matter? Do I need this in order to have this work properly? Or dos the “rich pin verification” override the old one?

    Thanks so much!!

P.S. I’m currently stepping up my blogging game and have already used your resources and information a ton!

  55. Chris says:

Hi there, any idea how to the the link with the globe when you hover an image? it says “Learn more at XXXX” where XXXX is the site the pin comes from with a direct link without going into the image first.

  56. jenn shurkus says:

hey melyssa- do you know if i have to have Yoast or if jet pack will work too? thank you! this post is SO helpful!!!!

  57. So quick and easy! Thank you 🙂

  58. Emma Weise says:

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I had already validated my website on pinterest 😉 YAY!
But it also meant that I couldn’t put the meta tag into Yoast [hoping it doesn’t impact YOAST].
And DONE! Applied for the Rich Pins, thanks for this!

  59. Magda says:

That’s great ! I was looking for this tip for months, honestly !!!!! It was so easy, that I feel super silly now 🙂 Thanks a lot for your help !

  60. Just stumbled across your blog by searching for an easier way to set up rich pins because the directions on Pinterest seemed a bit time consuming. This was stupid easy! Thanks so much for sharing. I also just followed you on all the social medias. I can’t wait to check out your other tips! 🙂

  61. shannonagains says:

Thanks! I didn’t know this was something I needed to do, but it’s done now. Great tutorial.

  62. vanessa l. says:

Nitty gritty questions: Do you have to have a wordpress site for Yoast? If you have ie, squarespace or shopify, can you use Yoast? Can you have rich pins with etsy (I bet you’re gonna tell me no 🙁 )

  63. Brilliant info, thanks for sharing it!

  64. I’m so glad i found this on pinterest! I just got my pin validated so hopefully i will have rich pins soon.

  65. Kate says:

Hi Melyssa! I usually pin images that I create specifically for Pinterest and upload them to Pinterest and then add the websites link, rather than linking directly from my site- will this work for Rich Pins? Or do I need to pin directly from my site for the Rich Pins to work? Thanks so much!!

    • Hi Kate! That’s an interesting strategy — is there a reason you do it that way? To be honest, I’m not 100% sure if that would work for rich pins, but I’m pretty sure it will, as the rich pins are sourced from the website link, which would be the same. 🙂

      • Kate says:

Just tried it and the rich pins worked 🙂 I do it that way because for my blog posts, I prefer horizontal or square photos with no font, but I think vertical/collage/photos with font are supposed to be better for Pinterest, so I make a separate version of my blog post photos for Pinterest 🙂

  66. grace tessy says:

  67. Michelle says:

I am very happy to see this great tip! However, Yoast didn’t work for me, I got a 500 Internal server error 🙁 My site is ok but I cannot access my admin/dashboard. I searched the web for fix but none helped. So I deleted the plugin through ftp and I can access my admin page again. Sigh.. :'(

  68. Emily Rose says:

I’m having trouble! I have Yoast (by recommendation of a previous Nectar Collective post…thanks!), the “open graph metadata” box is checked, I’ve verified my site with Pinterest, but when I try to validate a link it says “We were unable to retrieve any data from your URL.” Any idea what I’m doing wrong?

  69. Kate says:

Hi again 🙂 I’ve been all over your blog and free resources since discovering you last week, so first off, thank you!!
I have a Pinterest question that I’m wondering if you can help me with: I now know that having lots of pins with 0 repins will lower your ranking in Pinterest, but I’m a bit confused about how repins works. For example, I pin a lot of recipes from really big names, like Kris Carr, and when I looked through my recipe board, a lot of them have 0 repins, but I can’t imagine that I’m the only one who has repined this in all of Pinterest! Does this just mean that no one has specifically repined my copy of the pin? Thank you so much! x

  70. nanjhnyc says:

You rock, thank you! Saying hello from http://ww.themamamaven.com

  71. Sandy Nielsen says:

Your walk-through of applying for Rich Pins, and your recommendation to go with Yoast was so helpful for setting up a new blog! I listed your article as a reference: http://www.hertechability.com/facebook-twitter-pinterest-account-setup-for-new-blog/

  72. freefromfairy says:

Thank you so much. A brilliant article that works! And it is so simple. I can’t thank you enough!

  73. Rosemond C says:

Thanks so much for this info. I’ve tried to figure out how to do it from other tutorials. BAM! Followed your directions and I’m in. thanks for the awesome info!

  74. Tatiana says:

Wow, thank you so much for this! I was having so much trouble with setting up rich pins using any other way, and this post was a life saver.

  75. Chalotte Kamp Kruse says:

I can’t get the rich pin validator to work, when I open the link, its just saying none at the top.
And what link am I putting into my site? 🙂

  76. Mary says:

Just got my WordPress up and running and made sure to do this! Thanks Mel! You’re the best! 😀

  77. Ayla says:

I just did this and starting adding photos from my blog on Pinterest, but it doesn’t show up on all of them! The first one I did had the grey icon next to my name, so I Googled how to change it (the favicon). After I did that it looked perfect. (Pin with my name under it and a nice favicon) but then I added two more and my name isn’t on them at all! I’m probably doing something wrong, but I’m not quite sure what..

  78. jess_apassionandapassport says:

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, Melyssa! So simple! Just found your site the other day and am extremely impressed! I’ve recently been attempting to make my blog more like a business, and every single one of your articles (EVERY one, it’s crazy) appeals to me. I could be on your site for hours at a time. Ask my husband, haha. Anyways, thanks so much for sharing all your information with us! Truly appreciated! 🙂

  79. Jana says:

I love simple! Thanks for this! 🙂

  80. emihill says:

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was about to pull out my hair trying to figure out the code when I found this. I already had the Yoast plugin so it took only a few seconds. You rock!

  81. Just applied for this! It really is easy!

  82. Vivian Griggs says:

I’m on Wix and don’t see how Yoast works with this platform. Can you point me in the right direction for developing rich pins through Wix?

  83. Jessica Shank Coppom says:

WHAT?!?! It’s that easy!? I’m so glad I stumbled upon your post because otherwise I would have continued to get lost in the interwebs for years. Following you on Pinterest for more helpful tips. THANK YOU!

  84. Meera Kothandaramaraju says:

Hey Melyssa, this is awesome! Thanks for the tips! I have a question though about image sizes which has been cracking my head since sometime! I know images following the vertical sizing get repinned more but if you’re using auto posting from your WordPress across different platforms and they all require different sizes what image size works best for your blog post? Is there any specific size to follow? Or anything you would recommend?

    • Hi Meera! Good question.

First, I’d love to make sure I understand what you mean about posting from different platforms. Are you referring to different blogs that you manage? I recommend choosing a width that it the size of your blog content area, then multiplying that by 3 for the height. This will give you a great Pinterest ready image size!

      • Meera Kothandaramaraju says:

Hey Melyssa, actually what I meant was Facebook, IG and Pinterest prefer different optimal size for images. A custom image size tailored for each social media looks good rather than using one image size across the different social media. They may be cut off or look weird? Do you have this issue? I’m trying to figure if there’s one size that looks good on Facebook, IG and Pinterest.

  85. Hey Melyssa! Thank you so much for this tip..soooo easy, you saved me lots of time 😀
Great blog by the way… I’m saving it on my favourites so I can return for more!!
    Have a great week.
    Allane

  86. Claire Husselbee says:

    Hi Melyssa,
I’m working my way through Pinfinite Growth and I’m LOVING it. Thank you for creating such an actionable course.
Do you know if Yoast works on Squarespace to set up rich pins please?
    Thanks
    Claire 🙂

  87. Elena says:

Thanks for this easy tip. It is so much simpler than reading through a 10 min tutorial and still wondering what to do.

  88. Phenomenal Globe Travel Blog says:

Thanks for this excellent advice! I was getting a bit frustrated with Pinterest own ‘advice’ how to get Rich pins. This is so much easier!

  89. Amy (Feeding Finn) says:

Thank you so much for this post! I was so confused for ages with the info on pinterest but you helped me set it up in minutes.

  90. Brittany Quaglieri says:

These instructions are incredibly easier than those provided on the Pinterest Developers page, and I think I’ve gotten about half way there. BUT, I don’t have a Social tab in Yoast SEO – is it a premium feature?

When running pages through the validator, it says they are validated, but I don’t get a check mark next to “Rich Pins Enabled” like I do next to Site Name and Favicon. Thoughts?

    • Hey Brittany! So, Yoast may have changed the look of their plugin. Hover over the “SEO” section in your WordPress sidebar (for Yoast), then click “Social.” Then, click “Facebook” and you should see a checkbox to “add open graph meta data.” That should solve things. 🙂

  91. Hi Melyssa! Do we also need to add the URL to our favicon to the Front Page Settings section? I’m having a lot of trouble getting my favicon to display. It was showing up just fine but recently stopped working…:(

  92. Sheri says:

Super helpful. I was so confused and trying different plugins when I already had Yoast but didn’t know the right process. I’m waiting to hear back from Pinterest. Thanks!

  93. Tristan says:

I’m just curious, what’s the difference between doing this, and what’s explained on the Pinterest help page here: https://help.pinterest.com/en/articles/confirm-your-website#meta_tag

I followed your steps by doing what you said in the Yoast plugin (waiting on my “approval”), then I came across this article and followed those steps too. It immediately added my favicon and website name to all the pins from my site, so again I’m just wondering if your description of “rich pins” is any different than what I achieved via the Pinterest help article.

    Thanks for the insight!

  94. Regina Wells says:

Thank goodness…thank YOU! I was getting ready to do something very difficult and very wrong until I thought to search this issue first and found your blog post. I already have a self-hosted WP site and Yoast…I had no idea that this could be done so easily!! Thank you!

  95. Hey melyssa! Do you know if this also works for square space?
I would totally love to add this for my site 🙂

  96. Misty Blue says:

Hey, so I have the newest version of Yoast SEO and I can’t find these settings anywhere! Any idea? I can’t figure out Pinterest’s instructions, either…

  97. Thanks so much for this tutorial! Waiting now for Pinterest to review my set up, fingers cross it all worked!

  98. Dominique Montoya says:

    I’m Dominique Montoya, and i want to thank God for the Christmas Miracle. I lost my job few few weeks back after my divorce with my Husband. I tried everything positive to make sure i take good care of my kids but all failed, and i was in debts which makes everything worse. I was kicked out of my home and i had to live with my neighbor after pleading with her to allow me stay with her for some days while i figure out how to get a home which she agreed, but no one was willing to help anymore. I bumped into this page from google and I was excited about this, then I contacted the hackers. I had just $100, so I pleaded with them to help me because of my condition but they never accepted. I believed in this, so I managed to a pawn a few things and got $195. I ordered the $10,000,000.00 card and I got my card delivered to me by Ups 4 days later. I never believed my eyes! I was excited that i rushed down to the ATM machine to confirm if the card works, and to my greatest surprise i withdrew the sum of $5,000.00 Instant. This is no joke and if you wish to get this blank card, contact email:{Blankcredit.atmcard@programmer.net}

  99. Dan Chang says:

Hey Melyssa, thanks for doing this. Any tips for enabling rich pins on a teachable site?

  100. Pili Gomez says:

Thank you so much!! I was going crazy trying to get rich pins… now to wait for Pinterest to approve!

  101. Julie Hage says:

Thank you! I could NOT figure out how to make this happen, but your explanation made it so simple!

  102. I’ve spent way, way too long trying to figure this out and would really appreciate some help. The Yoast thing is taking me to WordPress, so I assume I need a wordpress account? That’s cool because I have one! But does it need to be a paid-for WordPress Business account? Because I cannot figure out how to install Yoast at all 🙁 Help!

  103. Joan- thenurseteacher.com says:

Thanks so much for the simple instructions – I refer back to them often. When I get the rich pin validated, it lists my FB page as the author? Do you know where this info populates so I can change it to my website? Has increased my FB following, but also notice a decrease in page visits. Thanks again!!

  104. Suzi Whitford says:

Finally! It works. Thank you for the help!!

  105. Hamburg von Innen says:

Wow, thanks so much! I was trying to get rich pins for quite a while and now it was just so easy! Epic!

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Seriously, I’ve been trying to figure this out forever!

  109. Thanks you! I just applied and the instructions were super easy. Hopefully, the rich pins and the strategy improve my traffic.

  110. Diana says:

Thank you so much! Extremely helpful. You made it seem so easy, and it was!

  111. I feel absolutely ridiculous because these are the easiest and most clear instructions ever, but I can’t seem to make it work. 🙁 I have my site confirmed, the open graph checkbox is clicked, but when I go to verify it I get this error message

“The data we scraped from your site could not be validated. Please make sure all required tags are present and you aren’t serving different pages depending on different user agents.”

    Where am I going wrong?

  112. Anna says:

Worked like a charm. Thanks Melyssa!

  113. Really diving into Pinterest and excited to be getting “rich pins” set up for our two sites. 🙂

  114. Shelley says:

After a day of battling I gave up on All in One (which seemed to be preventing my rich pins from showing up correctly even though the code was there). Once I switched over to YOAST, it was as easy as you described! You rock!

  115. That was easy! Thank you Melyssa!

  116. Hi, Melyssa, thanks for the awesome article. My rich pins are now active. However I tried to enable rich pins for my CUSTOM SHORTENED URL. The validator says it’s active. But still not showing up in pins. Can you enlighten me with anything on this issue?

  117. Melyssa, I’ve validated my account and set up Rich Pins. However, Pinterest wants me to add a line of code to my html. That kind of thing always scares me – do you have any posts about this or recommendations on making sure I do it right?

  118. Stephanie Rose says:

    This was great! Thanks!!

  119. Jojo says:

Hello Melyssa and fellow readers! Can anyone help with how I can change the favicon for a Squarespace account?

BTW, thank you for this post Melyssa!

  120. Lyssadawson says:

Maybe I’m crazy, but I can’t quite figure this out. I don’t have wordpress so it that my main problem. I’m also working from a mac so that may be where my other problem stems… any tips?

  121. Katie Lewis says:

Hi Melyssa! It looks like the link under Step One is broken. Just wanted to give you a heads up! And AWESOME webinar today. I learned so much about Pinterest and can’t wait to implement your ideas!

  122. michellebarringer . says:

Hey Melyssa, I am on blogger. Would I still be able to do rich pins somehow?

  123. Melyssa, you rock! As always. 🙂 That was so easy–thank you!

Thank you so much for your help!

  125. Lee T says:

    Hi Melyssa,

Thank you so much for such a step-by-step tutorial! Unfortunately though, it appears Yoast cant be used with blogger – only wordpress. Any ideas for a similar plugin that us blogger users can install? I really want to get Rich Pins up and running!

    Thank you!

  126. Valerie Malovich says:

Does this plug in work with a Mac?

  127. Thank you so much for this most Melyssa! I was googling “how to add Rich Pins to my wordpress site” and this post just saved me so much time! Amazing how quick it was. I already had the YOAST plugin, and in less than 10 minutes, I followed your steps and received my rich pins approval from Pinterest. All my pins now show as Rich Pins, I’m so excited!

  128. Alexandra Nicole says:

Hi Melyssa: My site has been verified by Pinterest but is this the same thing as setting the Rich Pin Validator. Are they one and the same?

  129. Bryan Haines says:

Thanks for the post – clear and simple.

One question – do you know if it’s possible to verify two domains for rich pins, within the same pinterest account? I can’t find an answer on that.

Hi Melyssa, I really enjoyed your webinar on the Teachable Summit. Great content. It seems that the Yoast Seo Plugin is only valid on wordpress. I use weebly, do you know if it can work on weebly too. Also do they have a free version, I couldn’t find it on their site. Thanks.

  136. Thankyouthankyouthankyou! Finally someone breaks this down simply!!!

  137. Yvonne Oh says:

    Hi there,

I couldn’t locate “add open graph meta data.” in Yoast’s social tab. Please help.

  140. I installed Yoast. But it won’t activate because it says I need WordPress SEO 3.1+.Where do I find that? My wordpress is up to date. Help.

  149. So weird. I just found you a couple of days ago and signed up for your emails. I’ve been wanting to figure out how to do rich pins. I didn’t understand how to insert meta data. So I google searched, and your page came up. I already had yoast installed weeks ago, but I didn’t realize, well. I’m still learning. Thanks for this post!

  150. Claire Wright says:

So I’ve managed to get the rich pins appearing, in that my recipes pins come up with ingredients, etc., but I noticed that many pins, when hovered over, come up with “Learn More at http://www….” next to a small worldwideweb icon. How do I get this to appear on mine, as it is yet to happen? Would you be able to help with this? Thank you.

Three days later, i was so surprised to see a comment by my cousin on how he got the blank card worth one hundred thousand dollars and without hesitation i gave him a call to come over to the house to tell me more about the card and he told me that its a miracle that i needed to per-take. He gave me the email address of the hackers and i contact them for the card and they responded and told me all the procedures and terms of the card which was also what my cousin told me, i agreed and completed their requirement to get the card. 163. Sue Renda Mishoe says:

What if you are not in wordpress, but in wix? will this work? do you have to have a self hosted website, or will a free website work?

    • Hi Sue! Rich Pins are not compatible with Wix but they are just a small part of the strategy and shouldn’t have a huge effect on your results. However, I recommend switching from Wix because it doesn’t have great SEO, you don’t own your content, and it’s difficult to switch to another provider down the line. Is there anything you’re hesitant about with snagging your own domain and hosting?

      • Sue Renda Mishoe says:

Yes I wanted my own self hosted domain and got one with WordPress originally, but was unhappy with how limited I was because of my lack of knowledge in technical things. Wix was more guided and took me through steps in terms I could understand.

  178. Hi! Just a question, do I have to do this for all of my posts or will this validate all my posts? Also, do you know if it will make pins that have already been pinned from my site into rich pins?

  179. Amanda Campbell says:

Very helpful article! I like how the steps are broken down in a list. Similar articles were less readable. Maybe you can help with a problem? When I try to validate my blog post, I get the following message: “We were unable to retrieve any data from your URL.” There is a green check mark next to “Rich Pins enabled”, but there are red exclamation points next to “Site name” & “Favicon.” Thank you so much!!!

  180. Sue Ringsdorf says:

Hi Melyssa! I’m trying to validate Rich Pins and it keeps saying “The request didn’t complete in time”. Do you know how to help me?

  181. EverythingIsNerdiful says:

Hi Melyssa! Love the article, but I’ve hit a roadblock from the get-go. I’ve downloaded Yoast SEO on WP, but when I go into the settings I don’t see a social tab. In fact, I could not find anything about Facebook in any of the settings tabs. Do I need to purchase Yoast Premium? Or has the plugin changed since you last wrote this post? Any help would be great, thanks!

    • If you go to your WP Dashboard and hover over “SEO” you should see an option to click on “Social”. Once there, there should be a “Facebook” tab that you can click on. Do you have the latest version of Yoast installed?

      • Ally says:

This post was super helpful and I finally got my client’s new pinterest account on rich pins 🙂 thanks Melyssa!! I knew you’d be able to help with anything Pinterest-related 🙂

To respond to @EverythingIsNerdiful’s comment as well, since I just downloaded the newest free version of Yoast, I didn’t see a “Social” or a “Facebook” tab (I think they’ve updated it since I downloaded Yoast personally a while back).

        >>> What I did was go to the Yoast “Features” tab and click “Enable” on “Advanced settings pages” since that enables the metadata and whatnot. It worked for me. Then I went into the Rich Pins Validator and it was all good to go. Hope that helps!

(Btw this was the exact plugin I just used) https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-seo/

  182. Yvonne Reimann Jacobs says:

Argh!! I have WordPress and Yoast, went into Yoast and could not find a “social” tab anywhere. Just “Advanced settings pages” which was already activated. Is that all I need or am I missing something? (Trying really hard not to mess this up, since my web developer isn’t available for couple of weeks and he has never done anything with Pinterest.)

    • Yoast has updated their plug-in so I’ll have to update this post as well.

Just to echo what @EverythingIsNerdiful’s said, go to the Yoast’s “Features” tab and make sure the “Advanced settings pages” is “Enabled” and that will enable the metadata. Then follow step 2 from the post and link to any post on your site on the “Rich Pins Validator” and you should be all set up! Good luck 🙂

Thank you so so much! I have been so nervous about setting up rich pins. That was because I always came across the most complicated explanations! That was ridiculously easy! Thank you!

  184. Boutique Travel Blog says:

Hi there, I already had the Yoast plugin and checked that the Advanced Settings were enabled but when I go to validate I keep getting an error message saying ‘ The request didn’t complete in time.’ Do you have any ideas to solve this please? thanks

  185. Olga says:

Hi Melyssa, I tried all of the steps and the settings are correct within Yoast. But still I get the red exlamation mark next to ‘Rich pins enabled’. I tried several URL’s but I can’t get it to work 🙁 For example, this is one of my links: https://www.mintful.nl/2016/10/04/oktober-doelen/ Do you know what I might be doing wrong?

    • Olga says:

I get this message every time: The data we scraped from your site could not be validated. Please make sure all required tags are present and you aren’t serving different pages depending on different user agents.

      • Hey Olga! There was a similar previous comment from someone who got it to work by “turning on the Schema Type in the Theme’s options for SEO.” Try that out and let me know if that works for you. 🙂

        • Olga says:

Hi Melyssa, thanks for your response 🙂 I searched in the thema options, but in the case of the Yumblog theme it doesn’t seem to be there. I updated Yoast to latest version, but also without results. I will try to contact Pinterest!

          • Olga says:

Hi Melyssa! After some time I am finally able to get back on this. Turns out that some themes without SEO optimization have some trouble with this method. After I switched to the Cheerup theme (which is optimized also in the code/tags) I could validate rich pins in the blink of an eye 🙂 So happy to cross this off my to-do list!

          • Yay! I’m so glad you were able to figure it out, Olga. That’s really good to know about the themes so thanks for coming back here and sharing with us. Happy holidays! 🙂

  186. cucicucicoo says:

Oh my goodness, you SAVED me! I’ve been trying to get rich pins for months, got my web guy on it, and even he was having trouble getting the codes and other technical stuff. Thank goodness that I found this article, enabled Yoast’s advanced features (I already had Yoast installed), and the rest was done in about two minutes!! Why in the world doesn’t Pinterest say anything about this on their massive help section on Rich Pins?! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! 🙂 Lisa

  187. Meg says:

Hi Melyssa! I have just discovered your site, it’s awesome!
I have a little question to ask you… Why the author name and the favicon of my rich pins are with a red exclamation mark next to them? I’m on WordPress… Thank you very much!

  188. All Babied Up says:

For the life of me, I cannot figure out why I can’t get this to work. I even physically tried to put the meta tags on a post, but I keep getting this response: We were unable to retrieve any data from your domain.

    Any ideas?

  189. Adrienne Mary Dyer says:

Hey Melyssa! Thanks for the awesome tips!! Question: what if I don’t have WordPress…currently my blog is hosted on Teachable. Does Yoast only work for WordPress or can I use it for Teachable too? If not do you know what else I can use?

    Thanks so much!

    • Hey Adrienne! Yoast is only available for WordPress and if you don’t have a WordPress site, I would definitely recommend creating one instead of hosting it on a 3rd party platform. Good luck and please keep me posted on your progress. 🙂

      • Adrienne Mary Dyer says:

Okay thanks so much! We are building an online studio with courses on Teachable so we figured we would just use their blog service to start with. WordPress has always been so confusing for me but I haven’t looked at their pre-built themes as much yet.

Is having a WordPress site/blog the only available way to enable rich pins?

  190. Jonathan Broyles says:

Just came across your post as I was trying to install rich pins on my website. After looking at all the code from Pinterest, I was like….so what do I do? Read your article and it took maybe 10 seconds to get it set up. Thanks!

  191. Meaghan says:

Hi! I just watched your webinar yesterday and I have since enabled rich pins for the Shopify portion of my website (Online store is hosted by Shopify, Main site + blog are hosted by WordPress). I then tried to enable rich pins for the WordPress portion of my website but it keeps telling me it can’t find anything. I have everything set up in Yoast where it should be submitting the right data. Do you know if you can enable rich pins for two separate domains under one account? (Website is domain.com, Online shop is shop.domain.com – which it sees as two different domains) I’ve e-mailed Pinterest but haven’t heard back yet. Thanks for the help! 🙂

  192. Adriana Lipa says:

Hi Mellysa, would it work for the Ghost user? I prefer this platform over than WordPress an I wouldn’t like to switch.

  193. Brittany Kulick says:

I’ve been putting this off for so long because it seemed too complicated, but this was so easy!! Waiting for approval now 🙂

  194. Palesa says:

My favicon is shown as retina icon and it says my favicon is the pin sign…is this how its supposed to be

  195. Gabby Lewis says:

I have a wix website. Is it possible to use Yoast with Wix?

    • Hey Gabby! I’m not too familiar with Wix but I believe Yoast is only compatible with WordPress sites.

    • Nadia Charles says:

Gabby, I also use Wix and just figured out how to get Rich Pins enabled, took 5 minutes from A-Z. If you’re blog is “articles” which I assume it is, just use this code and edit it with your information.

Step 1: go into your blog manager
      Step 2: select any post
Step 3: go to the end of the post
Step 4: click on the html option (it’s in the top menu where image is), in the html box
      Step 5: add this code:

I kept everything except the date/time since I don’t show date/time on my posts

Step 6: save and publish your site
Step 7: go to the pinterest validator (https://developers.pinterest.com/tools/url-debugger/)
Step 8: copy/paste the unique URL for the blog post you added the html code to and click Validate
Step 9: the validation is immediate, you will see your site info, including logo, favicon and site name (verify everything is as you want it, if not, go to your Wix page and make edits). If you do make edits, just click the Fetch New Scrape Information button to “refresh” the data Pinterest grabbed from your site.
      Step 10: Apply
Step 11: Go check your inbox because my approval came in immeditately.
Step 12: The email will have a link to view your new rich pins, click it and smile, You’re Done!

  196. Brianna says:

So do I need to do this for every article I post? Or will it work for all my articles with the same domain?

  197. Natasha Nicole says:

wow. I could not find any other blog on how to use Yoast to make “rich”pins. Thanks so much. Now, I haven’t launched my blog yet but i’m setting up my pinterest business acount and getting all that out of the way. Can I still do this before my blog has been launched? I still have an”under construction” when you go to my domain.

  198. Julie Tran Buorn says:

Hey, Melyssa! Thanks so much for this blog! It was racking my brain for who knows how long!! I saw that Pinterest said to apply for the most relevant category of Rich Pin…does this mean I can only have, for example, “Product Pins” or could I also have “Recipe Pins”, too?

  199. Natasha Nicole says:

Hey, You told me to let you know how it worked out with the “under construction” page. Well it didnt work. My pins could not be validated until I removed the “under construction” page. Once I did, it worked great

  200. Fun And Thames says:

Thanks so much, Melyssa! This was such a helpful resource for me (as I am not tech savvy)! I will definitely refer my readers to you in my upcoming post about social media and blogging! 🙂 Thanks again!!

  201. Thank you so much for the walk-through! I was making it way more complicated than it needed to be

  202. Evelyn says:

I got my already programmed and blanked ATM card to withdraw the maximum of $20,000 daily for a maximum of 20 days. I am so happy about this because i got mine last week and I have used it to get $45,000. Mr. Paul is giving out the card just to help the poor and needy though it is illegal but it is something nice and he is not like other scam pretending to have the blank ATM cards. And no one gets caught when using the card. get yours from him. Just send him an email On paulatmoffice@gmail.com

  203. Rosanna Penner-Sauereisen says:

That was so easy! Thanks so much! I’ve been putting this off for weeks. As usual, nothing is ever as hard as I think it’ll be.

  204. Pinto Pony says:

Question. When other people pin your pins does that create an entirely new link in the webosphere to your website, or is it just one link that is being shared? Thanks again for your fabulous brain 😉

  205. Wow. That was soooo easy! I tried some other way before and could never get the rich pins to work. I was approved in seconds and now all my pins are rich! Thank you sooo much! I’m about to read your post on mailchimp next. Once again, THANK YOU!

  206. Thank you SO MUCH for this! So easy!

  207. Steve says:

Hi Melyssa. Great post. I have rich pins enabled and sometimes they show as Rich pins but other times they don’t. Why do you think this is?

  208. Grace and Thane says:

You lady are a life saver!! Thank you so much for this, I’ve been racking my brain trying to figure out how to successfully do this. With your help I’ve now got it done in about 5 minutes! Thank you again!

  209. Rebecca David says:

Thank you so much for this! I’ve been putting off rich pins for a while because all the other tutorials I’ve read were so confusing! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

  210. I love a good tutorial. Done and done! Thanks Melyssa!!

  211. Stephanie Coco Palermo says:

Thank you SO much for demystifying this process!

  212. Hena Bilal says:

Done!! Thanks a gazillion and bless you…

  213. MyRelDiary.com says:

Wow, thank you, Melyssa. It was so easy to understand everything, unlike pinterest guide.

  214. Susan Shain says:

Thanks for posting this, Melyssa! It didn’t work for me at first — Pinterest couldn’t find the data — so I wanted to share my solution in case anyone else has the same problem.

I had to enable open graph data in Yoast by clicking on “SEO”–> “Social” –> “Facebook” in my WP dashboard. Full instructions here: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/getting-open-graph-for-your-articles/.

Then it worked like a charm. Thank you!

  215. Priyadarshini Rajendran says:

Thanks for the helpful post Melyssa. I tried doing it for my website..but something went wrong..attaching a screenshot. please help. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/422f5d8407bc5d7c1d92a880baf3559c9fbdac8a94c46ad0f2eb645d74368c19.png
I am not able to raise a help request on Pinterest help too.

  216. Leah Martin says:

Thank you so much for sharing these tips, Melyssa! Especially the part about Yoast SEO doing the metadata for you. You just saved me SO MUCH time and headache!!!

  217. Hi! I listened to your webinar and read this article. There were a lot of really helpful tips, but I can not figure out how to use rich pins with my Wix website. Do you know how I would be able to do this? And if I can not use rich pins is it possible to use keywords on a regular pin?

  218. Mamabops says:

Melyssa, Thank you so much for this article. Trying to figure out this rich pin stuff was giving me a headache! I found your site through a Google search and I’m so glad I did. You made it easy. Thank you!

  220. Moumita Mallick says:

at first it did not work. But when applied for second time it worked fine

  221. Marissa says:

This was insanely easy!! It took me less than 5 minutes to do since I already had Yoast, and I’m already approved. Thank you!!

  222. Meghan Leigh says:

I cannot tell you how helpful this post was! I already had the Toast SEO plugin and was struggling through Pinterest’s Rich Pins instructions…I didn’t realize that it was already basically set up for me through this plugin! So great & so easy! Thank You For Sharing!!!

  223. Anna Patricia says:

Hi 🙂 I am trying to set up pinterest’s rich pins, however my platform is through squarespace not wordpress. Do you have any suggestions?

  224. Laurie Christian Flickinger says:

Mine was working, and now it’s not. Ugh! SO frustrating.

  225. Katrina says:

I have been trying to figure out why some posts have titles and some do not…didn’t realize rich pins applied to article posts as well as products and recipes. Thank you so much for this easy, step by step. I appreciate the help!

  226. Semper Fidelis Patriae says:

That’s a nightmare for me. I tried everything and I have same error. “The data we scraped from your site could not be validated. Please make sure all required tags are present and you aren’t serving different pages depending on different user agents.”

  227. Semper Fidelis Patriae says:

It’s working on posts but not on my woo products, witch are more important for me.

  228. Candace Saunders says:

Yay! I finally got it to work! Thank you!!!!

  229. Nicole DaRosa says:

Thank you for this! I tried figuring it out on my own first and it got all technical on me lol this was a super simple process – awesome!!

  230. Ashley says:

GENIUS!!! Thank you so much. This was so easy and it worked! Why are P’s instructions so hard to understand when it’s this easy? Thank you!

  231. Although my rich pin is working, it’s not showing the full title of my posts 🙁 any idea why?

  232. Erica says:

How can you tell the difference between rich and non-rich pins once they are published? Is there any place you can go to review your list of rich pins? 🙂

  233. Morgan says:

Thanks so much for the helpful article!
I was wondering…..my site isn’t launched yet and I currently have “maintenance mode” on it. Could I still try to get validated for rich pins using a URL for a post I’ve made? Or do I have to wait until I am “live” 😉 Thanks so much for your help!!!

  234. Heidi Murphy says:

    Thanks for this, just applied!

  235. jfb57 says:

    Thank you! All done! Brilliant!

  236. Christine Helary Sawyer says:

Hi Melyssa, Thanks for the article! Do you know if Pinterest still shows titles in bold? I was just approved for rich pins, and my titles and descriptions are in Yoast SEO (Facebook section), but only the descriptions show up on Pinterest.

  237. Thanks so much Melyssa!! This is by far the easiest article I have read on how to add rich pins! You rock!

  238. Kelsey Frizzell says:

Thanks! For some reason I did what you said but it’s still showing that I don’t have author defined. Weird. Anyone else have this issue?

  239. Sarah Kranz says:

Great tutorial! Do you have to do this for each blog post or just once and it applies to the whole site?

  240. Shelbi Samuelson says:

Is it possible to set this up if you’re on Squarespace and not WordPress?

  241. Charlotte Burkholder says:

HI Melyssa. Nice explanation on how to get rich pins. Is Pinterest acting up right now? I re-wrote a Pin description to meet my sponsors requests and Pinterest will not change the description no matter running it thru the rich pin validator multiple times.

  242. Kenyatta Harris says:

eEasy peasy lemon squeeze as my son would say.
    Thanks so much

  243. luca says:

Thanks for this post Melyssa, but i’m having a little problem, after doing everything i get this message “We were unable to retrieve any data from your URL because the server took too long to respond” any help??

  244. Thank you for this simple explanation. The Pinterest website seemed more complicated than it was. Pinterest became the main source of my blog traffic one I reformatted my photos and started pinning. I have never used Rich Pins and am excited for this business tool I’ve been missing out on. Thank you!

  245. Talisa Garbo says:

Hi, thank you so much for this post; it made the process a lot less complicated vs other blogs, but one question; I get an error message when I try to validate a link, could it be something actually on my site? https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/5571430a882aa00664e298250b7fe86eb27bae68d84bb6cb6e86a6110260c371.png

    • Hi Talisa! It looks like this may have something to do with Pinterest so I would recommend reaching out to their support team for guidance. Good luck! 🙂

    • Dione Gardner-Stephen says:

Hi Talisa, did you get a resolution for your error message? I’m getting it too. If you managed to fix it please let us all know!
      Thanks a great deal, Dione,

      • Amber Hudson says:

Hi Dione, did you manage to resolve this issue? I’m having the same problem also, many thanks

        • Talisa Garbo says:

I haven’t. Tried again yesterday, same thing 🙁

          • Dione Gardner-Stephen says:

            Hi Talisa,
Try it now….Pinterest have fixed something on their end and mine is now working as per Melyssa’s instructions (see my reply to Amber). Hoping the issue is sorted for everyone.

          • Talisa Garbo says:

            Thanks Dione; it’s finally working!

        • Dione Gardner-Stephen says:

Hi Amber, I sent a message to Pinterest helpdesk with a screenshot of the error message and the url I was trying to validate. A very helpful helpdesk person confirmed that the error was definitely on the Pinterest end and that he would get a tech to look at it. It now works this morning without me having to change anything on my end. So…. if this was a global issue it is now sorted, so I suggest giving it another go now. If it is a site specific problem and yours still doesn’t work, contact Pinterest help center and sit tight. I wasted days messing with plugins and code to no avail, I suggest not doing that. 🙂 Otherwise you could try Nadine’s solution. Good luck!

      • Talisa Garbo says:

Hi, I haven’t. Tried again yesterday, same thing 🙁

    • Nadine Truong says:

Hi Talisa and Dione. I ran into this very problem for days and couldn’t figure it out. Today, I had a Eureka moment. The Yoast plugin wasn’t working for my wordpress theme for some reason. I tried a few other ones, and ran into the same problem (Open Graph, Schema). The one that did the trick for my theme was SEO Framework. I don’t know why or how, since I’m not a coder/designer, but as of two hours ago (it only took 11 minutes to get approved by Pinterest!), I am now able to use rich pins and am finally starting to look around for things to pin! Hope this helps! Good luck!

      • Dione Gardner-Stephen says:

Thanks Nadine. It is possible that the timing was coincidental with Pinterest fixing the problem on their end, but I’m so glad you found a solution and thanks for sharing it here…. this has also been messing with me for days (and I suspect a lot of people)!. Yoast/Wordpress combination is now working fine with rich pins via Open Graph just like Melyssa said, so if you want to keep things simple you can possibly now ditch the extra plugin. Pinterest have confirmed there was a technical glitch on their end, at least for my case. Kindest regards and enjoy your pinterest experience! 🙂

  246. Summer Abubaker says:

Does this work if trying to enable rich pins for recipes specifically, not articles?

  247. Kattie IsAnoun says:

Hi Melyssa! Thanks for much for this great tutorial!

I’m having some issues though – when I try to validate my URL the crawler can find the Rich Pin data but is unable to retrieve my Site Name or Favicon? I have no idea why this is happening as everything is set up properly on my site.

Any help / ideas / advice on why this would be happening would be a great 🙂
    Thanks!

    • Hmm…are you making sure to include a URL to your blog post and not your home page? Beyond that, it might be a Yoast SEO issue (if you’re using that) or a Pinterest issue. There have been some awesome recommendations for similar situations in the comments below so I would definitely recommend checking them out to see if one of those solutions help. Good luck, Kattie! 🙂

  248. Caitlin Kuhfeldt Busscher says:

Hi Melyssa! This tutorial seems so simple and I really want to try it–however, I am on Wix for my blog and it looks like the plug in is for WordPress. Is it possible to do this on Wix? This is also a question for the Pinfinite Growth class, because I would need to know if I can even put all your tips into action if I’m not on WordPress! 🙂 Thank you!

    • Ah, unfortunately Rich Pins are not supported on the Wix platform at this time. You would need to switch to a different website builder such as WordPress or Squarespace in order to enable Rich Pins.

With that being said, if you want to stay with Wix, Pinfinite Growth would still be very effective for your traffic growth as almost all of the techniques and strategies would be applied the same as with WordPress.

I hope that helps and please let me know if you have any other questions at all! 🙂

      • Caitlin Kuhfeldt Busscher says:

Thank you so much! I love the ease of Wix (I’m not a website designer), so I hope they get on the ball and add rich pins! 🙂 I am seriously considering Pinfinite Growth because I think it will be a great way to reach my audience–I’m getting frustrated with Instagram because my niche is so saturated. Thank you so much!

  249. Alice says:

Do I have to do this process for each blog post I create?

  250. andtheebee says:

Thanks so much! This was a very easy walkthrough and ultra helpful 🙂

  251. Shannon says:

Great tutorial! I’ve enabled rich pins on and it was approved but they aren’t showing up like rich pins. I’m on square space, any suggestions?!

  252. Jessica Riis says:

Aahhhh thank you! This was so very helpful. I applied in like 3 minutes tops. Thank you again for sharing your expertise. This blogging thing ain’t easy, so it’s nice to have quality resources to learn from.

  253. Dani says:

Thank you for this tutorial! It was so easy!

  254. Teri says:

Can I use rich pins if I don’t have wordpress? I had a developer create my website from scratch and am currently on Joomla. Thanks in advance!

  255. June Doran says:

Question – I applied for rich pins and was approved. But I never got the stats on my pins that everyone says they have (little bars in the bottom right hand corner). I validated my url again. Do you think that will work? I hear everyone mentioning how helpful it is for measuring engagement level with pins. Thanks!

    • Hi June, congrats on getting approved for rich pins! 🙂 Do you mean the stats like # of re-pins? Also, did you convert your Pinterest account to a Business account? Business accounts provide tons of free, valuable stats that you can dig into 🙂

      • June Doran says:

So I’ve seen a few bloggers reference seeing engagement stats easily accessed on each pin (it looks like little bars to the left of the re-pin count. I have a business account and rich pins…I reapplied and they said it was approved. Maybe I’ll see it show up over the next few days. Perhaps it’s a tailwind feature??

  256. Paul Smith says:

Well I confirmed that I have Yoast Seo plugin and the advanced settings pages is enabled but I cannot find anywhere in the settings to add the meta tag provided by pintrest. I could add it to the header.php file in the editor but you stated that it shouldn’t be on the home page. What am I missing?

  257. Thanks so much, Melyssa! Learned about this in your Pinterest webinar tonight and I’ve already been approved! 🙂

  258. Lou RealLifeWithLou says:

Wow, I can’t believe how easy that was. Thanks so much for your simple and straightforward instructions!
    Lou ¦ Reallifewithlou.com

  259. Megan says:

Thanks for this article! Everything was super easy.
Just a little tip, if you don’t know where to see the “features” tab for the Yoast SEO plugin it will be under “settings” on the left side navigation bar.

  260. Can you have Rich Pins with a non-WP site? I have a client who has a Jimdo site, and in setitng up her Pinterest account, I am not seeing any place to apply for Rich Pins.

  261. Bea | A Cheery Mind says:

Thank you SO MUCH for that ! I have been trying to understand those rich pin for a while now. You rock !

  262. Beth Adams Mishoe says:

I have a question, I have done all the above but when I am pinning my entire blog post content is added to the bottom of the photo I have pinned. Is there a way to just put a blurp about my photo and not everything I have written?

  263. Taylor Manuian says:

This was so helpful! Thank you so much for the tutorial!!!

  264. This really was helpful! Way less confusing than going through Yoast. I did have a question though, do I need to “validate” every single post? Or does Pinterest validate the one you gave and then adds it to each pin that comes from my blog?

  265. Thank you SO much for this tutorial – it’s restored my sanity! I’ve been avoiding Pinterest (well, all social media to be honest) for some time. It’s been overwhelming trying to get up-to-speed, but with your guidance & strategies it’s proving easy and enjoyable!

  266. Allie says:

Thank you so much Melissa! Goodness, I just launched http://www.vigoritout.com this week and was having so much trouble figuring this out! You made it sooooo easy, I’m waiting on Pinterest to confirm it all worked now. Yay! Pinned this great page too

  267. PearlsandPetticoats says:

Thank you so much for this simple tutorial. I just started a second website and did not know how to do this. My old VA did my last website.

  268. MyCrafting Adventures says:

This was sooooo helpful! Thank you so much. Just waiting to hear back from Pinterest now but I am confident this will help boost my pin rate. http://mycraftingadventures.com

  269. Rose Barnett says:

Melyssa I found you first on an episode of SPI. You are such a dear. Thank you for this post because I only was missing the advanced settings enablement and every other tutorial I found missed that simple step. God bless!

  270. Dalila Jusic says:

I was about to cry and hire a person to do this for me until I stumbled upon your article. Does this mean that I’m done? Does this mean that my website is connected to my business account in pinterest? Do I need to do anything else. Please send me to any other articles that will be helpful

  271. Dalila Jusic says:

Melyssa, if I’ve complete this, does this mean that my website is confirmed? I’m having a hard time with this.

  272. Kirstie VanderSluis says:

I am going crazy! I have a squarespace website which claims to be easy with rich pins, but some blogs posts validate while others do not. what am I doing wrong?????

  273. Ebony Hinton says:

Great article. How do i get it from showing so much information

  274. Hi Melyssa,

Thank you for your article. I was wondering if, after Pinterest approves your rich pins, do the pins you have previously pinned from your site automatically change, or will they change from what you pin from approval onwards? Thanks!

It took three attempts for me to get it to work but finally I got it! Thank you so much. The only thing is that my Favicon does not appear after my posts. I rechecked the Site Identity section of my blog just to be sure it was there and it is…so what should I do to get it to appear? Any help is appreciated.

  278. I have squarespace, not WP. Can you do rich pins with squarespace, or is there a version of Yoast for SS?

    • Hi Melissa, from what I have heard, certain Squarespace templates support Rich Pins, but others may not. I recommend reaching out to their customer support to find out, or testing it (since it doesn’t require a lot of time or effort) 🙂

  279. Laura Sterckx says:

Hi, Melyssa! A friend of mine sent me your article since I was having lots of issues figuring this out. 🙂 I activated the Yoast SEO plugin and enabled the advanced settings. However, when I tried validating a blog post, I received an error that said: “We were unable to retrieve any data from your URL.”. Any idea what I’m doing wrong? Thanks!

  280. Ula Archer says:

Thank you Melyssa! With your guidance I very quickly applied for rich pins and I only wait for being approved 🙂

  281. Arune says:

Thank you!!! This was SIMPLE and helpful, unlike the 15 sites I visited before finding this 🙂

  294. Moment Mom says:

Thank you! The instructions were so easy! I’ve been trying to understand Rich Pins for months. I just needed to find your site!

  295. Toni-Ann Hylton Mayembe says:

I am a newbie and I hear how Pinterest is King and you gotta have rich pins. No one explained how to enable rich pins. I literally followed your steps and it took me 1 minute! This was so easy! I already had Yoast SEO installed so that eliminated a lot of time. Thanks for sharing these easy steps!! Thank you! Thank you!

  296. Kari Krasinski says:

I downloaded the Yoast plugin but it looks like it is just for wordpress? I sell on Etsy and am trying to get rich pins but am having trouble. Any help?!

  297. I know this is a long shot, but I thought I’d ask it anyway. I have Yoast activated and have the open graph setting enabled. However, when I go to try to validate a blog post I get an error message that says, “We were unable to retrieve any data from your URL.” However, it also says that rich pins are enabled, but the rich pin data does not show up. Any idea what might be causing this error? I contacted Pinterest but only received a link to their page “Enable Rich Pins on Your SIte” which is soooo NOT helpful!!

  298. Ginger says:

I have been trying to figure this out for two days!!!! THANK GOODNESS for your blog!!

  299. Marian Blake says:

That was simple. The wait begins.

  300. Judy DeLorenzo says:

    Hello Melyssa!
I have rich pins and see that my recipes don’t always show up correctly on Pinterest. Is there a way I can change the settings so the recipe doesn’t appear? Thanks!

  301. Do you need to do this for multiple pins?

  302. Andonisr says:

Hey thanks Melyssa, that was helpful! 🙂

I am not sure if I set it up correctly, but here is how our pins displayed: https://www.pinterest.com/source/alter.live/

Compared to yours, it seems everything is same. And Pinterest had sent me an e-mail which said that my rich pins approved.

    A bit confused…

  305. talesfromthelens says:

Fantastic. This saved me lots of time. I thought I would have to code each page!! :S

  306. Natalia says:

Much more straightforward than Pinterest Business explanation… Thanks a lot!!!

  307. Megan Wille says:

Is this rich pin only for self-hosted WordPress? I am on the WordPress.com, not self-hosted.

    :)Thanks!

  308. Hi Melissa! This was a great and easy explanation (I attempted more difficult ones before not using Yoast) but the validator is still coming back with – “We were unable to retrieve any data from your URL”. I can’t figure out why, any insight? thanks!! xx Veronica inloveandlacebyvee.com

  309. Katey Jane Smith says:

    Hi Melissa,
This is really helpful. Is this only available on WordPress? How about on platforms such as Big Cartel and Shopify? Thanks in advance! Katey

  310. Thank you so much! I have been trying to figure out how to do this for the longest time and I am so happy I was finally able to thanks to this post! Hopefully now I have better luck with Pinterest and driving traffic to my site! Thank you again!

  311. Taylor Wildrick says:

Thank you so much! I’ve been hearing so much about rich pins lately and as a new blogger I decided I should get on it ASAP. This was very simple and a great read!

  312. Alexanndra Arabolia says:

Hi Melyssa, thank you so much for the tips! I’ve followed all the steps which was really simple to do and applied for Rich Pins but that was 3 days ago. I was wondering, how long exactly do you have to wait to receive an email from Pinterest that says the rich pins are enabled?
Looking forward to hearing from you! Thank you!!

    • Hi Alexanndra, You may not receive an approval email, but you should be able to tell when it’s working, as your pins will change in appearance and have the bolded text and ‘icon’ of your blog appear automatically. Did you notice a change in how your pins are displaying? It generally only takes a few hours to go through.

  313. Amy Brooks says:

Waahhhhhhh how do i change my Favicon!????

  314. Katherine Bibby says:

Thank you for this! Translation of pinterest’s instructions is appreciated!

  315. Maria Leucia says:

This isn’t working for me. The link to the site to add the rich pins isn’t working anymore.

  316. Deborah Richardson says:

Thank you, that was very useful.

  317. I’m at a loss. My website has been ‘claimed’, meta enabled with Yoast, but when I plug in a link and validate I receive the following: “We were unable to retrieve any data from your URL.” Been this way for a few days. PG member here; any thoughts?

    • Hmm… I’m so sorry you’re having trouble, Chris! Have you tried posting your question in the Pinfinite Growth Facebook Community for Members? It might help to also learn some additional insight from you (like which platform you are using for your website). I hope we can get this sorted out for you!

  318. Kate says:

Ugh thank GOD for this blog post! I kept googling how to enable rich pins and finding all this technical documentation – I was completely lost. This was SO easy : )

  319. Leticia Poirier says:

Hi Melyssa! Thanks for all your Pinterest tips. I have already applied and Pinterest have already approved my rich pins, but I don’t know what to do next! I feel really lost, because it seems so easy and nobody is asking this, but I cant figure it out! It’s supposed to be automatic? I read a lot about adding meta tags to the head part and I’ve done that (i think) and still nothing 🙁 I hope you can help me.

    • Hi Leticia! 🙂 If you’d like to automate your pinning process, I recommend looking into the Looping feature using a tool called Board Booster, or scheduling pins with a tool called Tailwind. I recommend both of these and use them in tandem. I teach the specific strategy in my paid course, Pinfinite Growth. 🙂

  320. Alexz Currie says:

Thanks so much for this! It was easier than I thought it would be. Google was NO help. But you totally were! Mine came back and said “oops-something went wrong on our end”. Not sure what, but I will try again later!

  321. Sam Adler says:

    Hey Melyssa!
Everything worked great for me, thanks! However my rich pins are coming up as articles and I would rather them be recipes, as I run a food blog, do you know how I can change this? Thanks!!

  322. mojogirl48 says:

Thanks for the info Melyssa. I have been validated (we all love to be validated), now just waiting for the big approval in a couple of days. I love your easy plain English easy to follow information. Thank you and followed your Pinterest 🙂

  323. Ashley Fields says:

I’m using WP and Yoast. All my info for Rich Pin validator is showing up except the “author” field. Any suggestions on getting this to show up?

  324. Hayley Grace says:

Melyssa, I’ve been so frustrated trying to figure out how to do this without any tech knowledge and nothing was making sense. This worked and took me less than 2 minutes to get validated. I appreciate it so much! I look forward to learning more exciting tips from you.

  325. C & H says:

Oh, bless you. I got a headache earlier trying to get through this a much harder way. Thank you so much for posting this!

  326. Coraly Gonzalez says:

Hi so my rich pins got validated but now all of my post have in the description everything said on the blog (if that makes sense) and I can’t seem to edit it. Please help

    • Hi Coraly 🙂 The rich pin should show the name of your blog and post title in the bolded text, but below that should be an editable pin description that you can edit to match whichever keywords or description you’d like to put there. 🙂

  327. Laurie Kay Johnson says:

Are Rich Pins only available for blogs and websites, or will it work for Etsy shops?

  328. Alyssa Bokemper says:

Thank you so much for the easy tutorial! I have the rich pins all set up now but I can’t seem to edit the description to add my keywords. When I edit it I still have the excerpt from my blog post under the title.

    • Hi Alyssa 🙂 The rich pin should show the name of your blog and post title in the bolded text, but below that should be an editable pin description that you can edit to match whichever keywords or description you’d like to put there. 🙂
