It’s still wild to say out loud, but within 3 years, I turned my hobby blog into a multimillion dollar company (the one you’re lookin’ at right now!). What I’ve discovered from teaching tens of thousands of entrepreneurs is that most people want to know my "secret sauce" for building a successful company. As much as I love nerding out over email marketing and online course creation, teaching you another business tactic would only be half the story...

About

I’m a former high school teacher turned entrepreneur who loves few things more than a good hug (my love language is Physical Touch, so I’m aaaaall for a tight squeeze), hopping on a flight to anywhere, and teaching people like you how to live an   abundant and  limitless life.

Where it all began and how I got here, now...

I’ve learned that your answers to a few important questions will say a lot about how much success and happiness you’ll be able to create in your life. Questions like...What’s your mindset on money and abundance? What limiting beliefs or insecurities have been following you around your whole life? Which patterns did you inherit from your family that might now be holding you back?

See, my job is to lead you back to yourself and to help you reprogram those limiting beliefs and patterns that are keeping you stuck and small. There’s no more hiding here, friend. Around these parts, I’ll be sharing my best business secrets, as well as helping you cultivate a life of true freedom, purpose, and fun.

is an inside job.

That’s because success

Who says you can’t have it all?

February 2013

Let’s rewind to 2013, the year I started this website. Back then, I was working as an English teacher in Tokyo. I had moved to Japan after college because I had no idea what I “wanted to do with my life,” and moving halfway across the world seemed like just the thing that might bring clarity.

Eventually, I started a blog to share my creative projects, lessons as an expat, and -- if we’re being honest -- blog posts written from the perspective of my dog. It was pretty high brow stuff, y’all. I also started my blog because I dreaded my actual job as a teacher. I always loved teaching (more on this later), but classroom teaching was slowly sucking my soul from my body, dementor style. I had no idea that “blogging” was an actual THING at the time (“like, people do this for a living?”), but once I discovered the online universe, it was a done deal. I was straight up obsessed.

A few months after starting my blog, I decided to offer web design services through my website. I wasn’t a trained designer, but I’d created enough club t-shirts in college to fill a closet, and I once designed a full website for a hermit crab. So, you know, skillz.

OCTOBER 2013

To my shock, within 3 months, I was earning enough as a web designer to quit my teaching job and pursue my design business full-time. I packed up my life in Tokyo and moved back to my home state of California.

But...I was burning out fast. I knew I didn’t want to be a designer and work with clients forever, and at the time, online courses were starting to take off. I was still running my blog (it was the best tool to grow my email list and community, and it attracted web design clients like no other). I noticed that Pinterest was bringing me heaps of traffic and email subscribers to my site, so I decided to publish my first online course about Pinterest marketing. I called it Pinfinite Growth and it was one of the very first e-courses to exist about how to use Pinterest for your business.

I had no idea how to create and launch an online course at the time, but I’ve experimented and fine-tuned my online course process repeatedly over the years. As of today, Pinfinite Growth has earned about $3 million in sales.

"My Life Story in Three Sentences"

I grew up with the belief that the more achieved, the more people would love me.  (I know, it sounds kind of icky to say out loud, but it’s the truth. And for a girl who, for years, felt like she rarely belonged anywhere, achievement felt like the one thing that made me feel accepted and loved).

So, for over a decade, I filled my schedule with leadership positions, was always the one who did the entire thing in “group projects” at school, and I hustled to the point of exhaustion. The harder I worked, the more love and approval I seemed to get from others. Enter: The Hustle Era.

2016-2018

At this time, my business was starting to take off, earning millions of dollars per year and attracting an ever-growing community of people from around the world. Welcome to the Hustle Era, where my entire life began to revolve around my company. When I wasn’t filming a new online course or writing a blog post, I was responding to emails or training a new team member. It was nonstop, by design.

Something was starting to feel off inside me, but I was determined to ignore it. Deep down, my subconscious was blaring, “If you stop Gary Vee-ing your life, then this whole thing will crumble...and who will approve of you then?” So, I kept piling more on my plate, using achievement and success as a mask for the insecurity and fear that were simmering below the surface.

When we try to avoid our emotional pain, our body makes sure we listen. After years of grinding my way to success, I was diagnosed with adrenal fatigue, cortisol that was 4x the normal amount, and thyroid issues. Translation: I was perpetually exhausted, simultaneously apathetic and an emotional rollercoaster, and in a constant state of stress. Burnout, as they say.

I felt completely disconnected from myself. My doctor suggested that I take a break from work so that I could heal. And so began my 6-month sabbatical from my business and social media. I think of this as My Cocoon Stage, where I made more progress than ever in dismantling the masks I’d worn for years and integrating new levels of confidence, alignment, and healing. And mostly, I started to be “me” again. You can read more about this evolution on my Instagram here and here.

2018 - now

After years of hustling and trying to do business “the right way,” I finally decided to throw the road map out the window and do things my way. I replaced grind culture with alignment. “Seeking approval from others” with “validating myself from within.” Everything began to change.

My business even took on a pivot of its own: whereas I previously taught online entrepreneurs solely about business strategy (things like email marketing and product launches), now I infused my work with plenty of coaching around mindset and personal development, too. I realized that I could teach someone the skills they needed to grow their business, but if their mindset was out of whack, then they’d never see results or they’d feel massively unfulfilled.

I also deeply understood that every entrepreneur unconsciously brings their life story to their business, and if your old programming is flavored with scarcity and insecurity (hint: everyone’s is in some way), then that will seep into your business until you take steps to heal it.

As you’ll discover, I take a holistic approach to coaching entrepreneurs. Simply put: because it works.

As you’ll discover, I take a holistic approach to coaching entrepreneurs. I believe that the best way to grow your company is from the inside out -- meaning, the more work you do to reprogram the ineffective beliefs and stories you adopted in your early years, the more success and joy you’ll feel as a business owner and human. I talk about this all.the.time on my podcast, Limitless Life™, where I regularly coach entrepreneurs about how to stop getting in their own way.
