Facebook is the social media platform that most bloggers and entrepreneurs seem to have a serious love/hate relationship with. One day you’re all about paying for Facebook ads and scheduling content, the next you’re scratching your head wondering if all that extra work is really worth it.
Although Facebook may be evolving, you can definitely still use it as a tool to engage and connect with other people in your industry by joining Facebook groups. The amount of groups on Facebook can be a little overwhelming, so we’ve put together a list of nine of our favorites that aim to help and encourage entrepreneurs, creatives and bloggers. There’s even a group created by The Nectar Collective! Woop woop!
But first, what’s the deal with Facebook groups? Why should you join them and what should you expect?
Facebook groups are definitely rising in popularity — and for good reason! Groups are private communities of people involved in the same field. Within these groups, you’re able to ask for feedback, share advice, and connect with people who have similar goals. They’re wonderful community-building tools and can even help you get more clients. But with the heaps of groups out there, how can you tell which ones are best? Here are some of the best ones we’ve come across:
Creative Biz Owners with Little Farm Media
We are big fans of Little Farm Media around here! This group is geared toward creative business owners and entrepreneurs. With thousands of members, you are bound to find a great deal of knowledge and support. Bonus: when you join the group you get a free copy of one of Caitlin’s e-books!
Savvy Business Owners
This group is perfect for all the boss ladies out there. Over 4,000 female business owners come together in this group to chat and learn from one another and their host. The group encourages you to share tips, tricks, and resources, that have helped you with your business. There are also special daily prompts to help you engage and ask questions.
Female Entrepreneurs Collaborate
This fun group is perfect for business owners who need some extra motivation and a big dose of knowledge. With a large emphasis on community, you can find 5,000+ ladypreneurs to cheer you on and help you along with your business. Each day of the week there’s a different theme, such as Motivational Mondays and Social Share Thursdays.
The Creative’s Corner
If you’re a creative entrepreneur, you will want to join this group to meet and engage with other creatives. Members are encouraged to share helpful resources, and on Fridays they host a group Creative Genius feed where you can talk about all your creative endeavors and bounce ideas off of fellow group members. Awesome, no?
Freelance to Freedom Project
This group is geared toward freelancers and solopreneurs, including designers, developers, copywriters, and more! It’s a large community of people who are very willing to help and offer their advice. It’s also a great place to find others to collaborate with or hire, as there are plenty of talented folks here.
Freedom Hackers Mastermind
If you want to “free” yourself from your day job and start your own full-time blog or business, then this group is for you. With over 10,000 members, it’s the largest group in this list. That might sound a little overwhelming, but it actually means that there are TONS of people ready to answer your questions and offer advice. Pretty awesome! The group is hosted by boss lady, Kimra Luna, and you’ll probably appreciate her edgy approach to business.
Being Boss was originally created for listeners of the “Being Boss” podcast. Now, it’s a place where business owners (or aspiring biz owners!) can come together and cultivate a sense of community. This is a good place to learn from other entrepreneurs.
Blogging Boost is an incredible place for new bloggers. This group is very active and the members share plenty of tips about the tricks and tools necessary for running a blog. It’s also an awesome place to ask questions and get feedback.
Blog + Biz BFFs by The Nectar Collective
Hey, that’s us! We recently launched a brand new Facebook group so that our community would have a place to hang out together, get support, and offer advice. We’re SO stoked about this. Blog + Biz BFFs is a hub for bloggers and online entrepreneurs who want to learn, grow, and feel support from others. Like our name suggests, it’s a friendly zone and we hope to cultivate friendships and collaborations among our members. Woop woop!
**Note: In order to be approved for the group, you’ll need to sign up here first.
Facebook groups can be a real hit or miss. I’ve personally joined groups simply for the fact that it had a ton of members, only to find out that less than half were ever really active-or the niche wasn’t what I thought it would be. It can be tempting to join as many as possible, but to truly gain knowledge, readers, and customers, you might want to consider picking 1 or 2 favorites that you can really devote your time to. It’s better to be truly engaged in a few groups than sporadic and inconsistent in a lot of them.
